Alpha Sigma Tau is a national sorority founded on November 4, 1899 at Michigan State Normal College (now Eastern Michigan University) in Ypsilanti, Michigan. The organization was founded by eight women with the goal of promoting the ethical, social, and intellectual development of its members.
Alpha Sigma Tau has over 100 active chapters across the United States and boasts over 60,000 initiated members. The sorority is committed to promoting sisterhood, philanthropy, academic excellence, leadership, and personal development.
The official colors of Alpha Sigma Tau are green and gold, and the official flower is the yellow rose. The sorority's mascot is the anchor, symbolizing stability and strength.
